The Graduate Counseling program engages in a systematic evaluation of its two primary program offerings: Professional School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. One purpose of this evaluation is to determine to what extent our students master counselor competencies as identified by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP).

Carson-Newman University and its Graduate Studies in Counseling Program are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
The education programs, as well as the Professional School Counseling Program, is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Tennessee Department of Education.
