Recruiting Information

Thank you for your show of interest in the Carson-Newman University Army ROTC “Eagle Battalion.”  Undoubtedly you know that our ROTC program is unique because it is a dynamic part of one of the top valued educational institutions in East Tennessee.  Carson-Newman is a small school that offers a Christian atmosphere and diverse community with both faculty and students hailing from around the world.  In addition to Carson-Newman’s excellent academic heritage, the University offers a variety of extra curricular activities to include intramural sports, varsity athletics, and academic societies.  Choosing Carson-Newman will therefore provide you, the student and future Army officer, a rewarding academic environment that includes 56 bachelor degrees and an instructor to student ration of 13 to 1.

The “Eagle Battalion” Corps of Cadets works in conjunction with the student’s academic lifestyle in order to prepare cadets for their future as Army officers and leaders in our society.  Currently the battalion consists of 60 (45% Female) young men and women from around the nation.  Like these cadets, you have the opportunity to apply for a 4-year, 3-year, or 2-year scholarship that will enable you to earn a college degree and a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Army.  You will also be afforded the option of serving in the U.S. Army Reserve, Army National Guard, or the Active Army.  As added incentive, individuals who are awarded scholarships will have their room and board fees waived by the college (see note 1). As a member of the “Eagle Battalion” you will be a part of one of the most active groups on Carson-Newman’s campus.  Additionally, you will become part of a military heritage that began over 30 years ago and provides the best possible leadership training to each cadet in their pursuit of academic and military excellence.  For additional information feel free to contact Scott Bryant at (865) 471-3380 or E-mail us at army.rotc@cn.edu

1.  All required financial aid documents and forms must be submitted to the college.   Carson-Newman University will apply any financial aid, non ROTC scholarship, or grants to room and board cost.  Any gap between received financial aid and actual cost of room and board will be covered by Carson-Newman University.
