Depression is often characterized as persistent sadness or a loss of interest in once pleasurable activities. Symptoms of depression can include: changes in sleep and appetite, lack of concentration, loss of energy, lack of interest in activities, feelings of sadness or hopelessness, and suicidal thoughts.
