The Baptist Archives' main objective is to preserve Middle and East Tennessee's Baptist heritage. The collection contains the minutes, records, annuals, and histories of various churches and associations; ministers' and laymen's papers, diaries, letters, and sermons; and the collections of various missionaries. Also included are early Tennessee Baptist newspapers, Tennessee Baptist Convention annuals, regional state newspapers, and selected Southern Baptist journals. The collection is rounded out by a wide variety of books dealing with Baptist history, doctrine, missions, and biography. Vertical files are also maintained for Middle and East Tennessee Baptist churches and associations.
