Carson-Newman Association for the Education of Young Children (C-NAEYC)

C-NAEYC is our student-led organization which is a university affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This organization is open to all CFS and ECE majors as well as anyone with an interest in serving young children. Past and present activities have included volunteering at a local Head Start, hosting a children’s book drive, leading story time and other activities in preschools, and celebrating the Week of the Young Child. Additionally, members have the opportunity to partake in various professional development activities hosted by C-NAEYC. This organization also provides a great way for students to gain leadership experience both on and off campus.

Fall 2020
School Supplies Drive:
C-NAEYC conducted a campus-wide school supplies drive for the local Head Start to provide the classroom (both in-person and remote learners) some necessary materials for starting the year off right! (see banner above)

C-N Serve Day: C-NAEYC Members organized a craft (Mr. Pumpkin Head) for the local Head Start classroom. Students met on campus to prepare craft bags for each child in the classroom. A student then joined the Head Start children over Zoom and completed the craft with them virtually.
